Pune's Shirur-Pimparkhed region was terrorized by a man-eater leopard, which killed three people, including two children, in 20 days. The Forest Department finally shot the 5-6 year old male leopard dead. The initial attempt to tranquilize the leopard failed, and it charged the rescue team, forcing the sharpshooters to open fire, ending the reign of terror. पुणे जिल्ह्यातील शिरूर-पिंपरखेड परिसरात २० दिवसांत तिघांना बळी घेणाऱ्या नरभक्षक बिबट्याला वनविभागाने ठार केले. बिबट्याला बेशुद्ध करण्याचा प्रयत्न नेमका चुकला. त्यानंतर बिबट्याने वन कर्मचाऱ्यांवर हल्ला केल्यामुळे शार्पशूटरने गोळी झाडून या नर बिबट्याचा खात्मा केला, ज्यामुळे परिसरातील दहशत संपली.
