He visited the memorial before heading to the Red Fort for the main flag-hoisting ceremony, upholding a long-standing tradition. स्वातंत्र्यदिनानिमित्त पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी दिल्लीतील राजघाटावर जाऊन महात्मा गांधी यांना आदरांजली वाहिली. लाल किल्ल्यावर मुख्य ध्वजारोहण कार्यक्रमात सहभागी होण्यापूर्वी मोदींनी गांधीजींच्या समाधीवर पुष्पहार अर्पण केला.
